Man Assaulted and Pushed Out of Moving Local Train, Sustains Injuries
Mumbai: A young man sustained severe injuries after being assaulted and pushed out of a moving local train by three passengers during an altercation on a Churchgate-bound fast local near Borivali station on Nov 6.
The incident occurred around 10:05 pm while the victim, Adil Hashmi, along with his cousin and another family member, was travelling in the second general compartment from the Virar side.
As per the complaint lodged by the victim’s relative, the altercation began at Borivli station when the assailants boarded the already crowded compartment and started arguing with the victim, escalating to a physical assault. Efforts by the victim’s relatives and other passengers to calm the attackers proved futile.
The complainant said, “Just before the train reached Kandivli station, one of the attackers allegedly kicked the victim, who was standing near the door, causing him to lose balance and fall onto the tracks. Passengers immediately notified railway authorities via the emergency helpline, and the train was halted at Andheri station, where security personnel detained two of the suspects for questioning.”
The suspects, identified as Asif Ali Mohammad Arab (42), Sameer Isam Khojda (32), and Shakeel Mehmud Sheikh (27), were handed over to the Borivali railway police, who launched an investigation into the incident.
The injured man was first taken to Shatabdi Hospital for initial treatment and later transferred to KEM Hospital in Parel for further care.
