Shiv Sena (UBT) demands setting up of vigilance leak detection squad for exams | Mumbai News – Times of India
MUMBAI: In the wake of the NEET exam paper leak incident and cancellation of UGC-NET exam and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray demanding the suspension of the State Common Entrance Test Cell Commissioner over irregularities, the Sena (UBT) has demanded the state govt set up a specialised vigilance and leak detection unit to investigate and prevent paper leaks in government entrance exams and recruitment exams.Sena (UBT) MLC and candidate for the Mumbai graduates constituency polls Anil Parab said this dedicated unit should be headed by a senior IPS officer. In a show of strength for the MLC polls, Varsha Gaikwad, newly elected MP and Mumbai Congress President, along with Parab, interacted with graduate voters in Chembur on Sunday morning.
Parab said that the lives of lakhs of students and graduates are at stake due to frequent paper leaks. “Whether it’s the NEET exam, UGC-NET exam, CET exam for PhD in Pune, revenue official jobs exam, or HSC exam papers, leaks are rampant in all government entrance and recruitment exams. Students and graduates prepare for years for these exams to secure either admissions or jobs. Such incidents not only destroy valuable years of their lives but also erode trust in these exams. This is a major concern,” said Parab.
“After the Lok Sabha, MVA is united for the Graduate Election. All the Congress workers at the grassroots are working very hard. I’m sure of Parab’s victory by a record margin,” said Gaikwad.
Parab said the govt must set up a specialised vigilance and leak detection unit to probe and prevent paper leaks in entrance and recruitment exams. “This dedicated unit should be headed by a senior IPS officer with focus on curbing such incidents. I will take up this issue at all forums to provide relief to the students and graduates,” Parab said.
Parab has been holding multiple meetings with party office bearers and graduates for the Mumbai graduate constituency election. On Saturday, Parab launched his manifesto for the graduate voters at the hands of Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray and former Rajya Sabha MP and former vice-chancellor of Mumbai University Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar.
