SHGs have sales turnover of Rs 2cr in 6 days of Subhadra mela | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Subhadra Shakti Mela at Janata Maidan has become a major crowd puller with over 1.5 lakh visitors and sales turnover of more than Rs 2 crore in the past six days. Women SHGs from across the state are displaying and selling wide-range of products at the fair.
The vibrant marketplace, filled with traditional artistry and innovative offerings, has become a hub of cultural and entrepreneurial exchange. Meanwhile, the food court remains a top attraction, drawing crowds with its delicious spread of millet-based delicacies, organic produce, and classic Odia flavours that celebrate the essence of local cuisine.
The nine-day mela that will continue till March 2, aimed at providing a market to SHGs and their products. Day 6 of the fair brought a special focus on eco-friendly household essentials, with the spotlight on organic hand wash, dish wash, and liquid detergent by Nibedita SHG from Mohana block, Gajapati on Thursday. These sustainable products, crafted by Mission Shakti members, highlight Odisha’s commitment to environmentally-friendly alternatives while empowering women entrepreneurs in the household goods sector.
Parjanga MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan and Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous, visited the fair and interacted with SHG members and lauded their efforts in skill development and entrepreneurship. The evening cultural programme was a blend of heritage and melody, with an engaging daskathia performance, a traditional folk storytelling art that captivated the audience. The festivities concluded with a melody night.
