BENGALURU: Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, 36, who murdered his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, 32, on the night of March 26, admitted to the police that after killing her, he sat beside her body and talked to it throughout the night.
Rakesh was apprehended by the police late on Thursday evening, just moments before he planned to surrender at Shirwal police station near Pune. He confessed that he and his wife had argued over her job shortly before dinner.
Rakesh also contacted Prabhu Singh, a tenant residing on the ground floor of his building, and falsely claimed that Gouri had taken her own life. He instructed Singh to inform the police and the landlord. Singh then relayed the information to the landlord, who promptly alerted the police helpline.
Rakesh had relocated from Maharashtra to Bengaluru a month ago and was employed as a senior project coordinator at Hitachi Systems India, working remotely. Before the move, Gouri had resigned from her job at a private company in Maharashtra.
After settling in Bengaluru, she began searching for a new job but struggled to find a suitable opportunity. Rakesh told investigators that Gouri held him responsible for her unemployment and insisted on returning to Maharashtra, leading to frequent disputes between the couple.
