Servants from Nepal drug Hyderabad bizman, wife; flee with 1kg gold, Rs 70 lakh cash
In a shocking incident, two domestic helpers drugged a Hyderabad businessman, Hemraj Dugar, and his wife, Meena, at their Kacheguda home, making off with 1 kg of gold and ₹70 lakh in cash.

HYDERABAD: Two domestic helpers drugged a Hyderabad businessman and his wife before fleeing with 1 kg of gold and Rs 70 lakh in cash from their Kacheguda residence on April 20 night.
Police have formed three special teams to trace the culprits, who are believed to be part of a larger gang.
The crime took place at the home of Hemraj Dugar, 62, a carton factory owner, in Lingampally locality in Kacheguda. Hemraj and his wife Meena, 59, were home at the time, and their son Abhishek and his family were away on a trip to Bangkok.

According to police, Hemraj and Meena had dinner before retiring for the night. Domestic helpers Arpita and Deepender, both from Nepal, were also present. Around midnight, Meena was jolted awake by noises and found the duo – along with three unknown men – packing valuables.
“I tried to raise my voice but couldn’t. They threatened me with harm. I saw my husband lying unconscious and helpless,” Meena recounted in her statement from a hospital bed.
The intruders forcibly removed Meena’s gold bangles and amulet, and took Hemraj’s gold chain and rings before ransacking the house. Meena lost consciousness soon after. It wasn’t until 9 am on April 21 that Hemraj awoke to persistent knocks on the door from relatives. They found the house in disarray and Meena semi-conscious, and rushed the couple to a private hospital in Hyderguda. Both are out of danger.
Investigations revealed that Arpita was introduced to the family a month ago by their former maid Bimla. Later, when the family needed extra help for home renovations, Bimla referred another man, Indrabahadur, who sent Deepender-also known as Gajender-to work at the residence from April 17.
“Arpita and Deepender, along with three others, executed the plan and fled with valuables. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the BNS,” said Kacheguda detective inspector Suresh Babu. Hemraj runs a carton manufacturing unit in Katedan.
East zone DCP B Bala Swamy confirmed a manhunt is underway. “They stole jewellery, cash, and other valuables. Our teams are on their trail,” he added. Abhishek returned from Thailand on Tuesday.
