Senior inspector caught accepting bribe in Mumbai’s Chembur | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a senior inspector of Tilak Nagar police station in Chembur red-handed on Monday evening while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.
The inspector, identified as Deepak Bagul, had allegedly demanded Rs one lakh from a man to help him recover his investment in a credit society.
According to the ACB, the complainant had invested Rs 27.50 lakh in a credit society run by a woman.
Although the woman had already refunded Rs 10 lakh, she filed a complaint against the man at Tilak Nagar police station instead of paying the remaining Rs 17.50 lakh.
Inspector Bagul contacted the complainant and offered to help recover his money on the condition that he pay him Rs one lakh. After negotiating, Bagul agreed to accept Rs 35,000.
The ACB arrested him under the Prevention of Corruption Act when he accepted the bribe on Monday evening.
