Senior advocate attacked by cousin in Secunderabad | Hyderabad News

Status: Done
Hyderabad: A senior advocate was allegedly attacked by his cousin at Padmarao Nagar in Secunderabad late on Sunday. The injured advocate was identified as Mohd Mujtaba Ali, who practices in Hyderabad and Secunderabad criminal courts. On Sunday night, when Ali was at a pan shop, Bilal came to the spot and attacked the former with a knife. Ali tried to escape the attack with the help of a delivery boy and got onto his bike. However, Bilal chased the bike for a few hundred metres and stabbed Ali multiple times, leaving him severely injured.
Locals rushed Ali to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. “He sustained severe injuries all over the body, but he is out of danger,” said Chilkalguda station house officer B Anudeep. An attempt to murder case was registered, and Bilal was taken into custody. He will be produced before the court, he added. A few months ago, Bilal attacked Ali’s brother over some dispute, following which a case was registered against the former at Lalaguda. Bilal bore a grudge against Ali as the latter didn’t allow his brother to compromise in the case, police said.
Meanwhile, condemning the attack, the Telangana High Court Advocates Association abstained from work and held a protest at the high court demanding the govt to introduce the advocates protection act. They demanded the police to take stringent action against the culprits.
