Bhubaneswar: State govt announced on Sunday that 10 companies of central forces and 200 state police platoons will be deployed to ensure peaceful Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on Monday. Police said they are remaining vigilant amid anti-Waqf Act demonstrations in various states.
Following a security review meeting on Sunday with chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, additional chief secretary (home), Satyabrata Sahu, and DGP Y B Khurania, authorities confirmed the installation of sufficient CCTV cameras and drones along procession routes.
Enhanced security measures are in place across eight districts, including in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. All range IGs/DIGs, SPs and collectors attended the virtual meeting where they were advised to take foolproof measures for peaceful celebrations.”
Police attention will centre around Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Kendrapada, Khurda and Cuttack districts, considering some past incidents of communal unrest.
“We have made extensive arrangements. On the request of the state govt, Centre has given us 10 companies of Central Armed Police Forces, which also include 3 RAF companies. About 200 platoons of state police forces will also be deployed. About 650 CCTV cameras have been installed and 40 drones deployed in the sensitive areas,” Kumar said.
Police authorities have been conducting flag marches in districts to ensure public trust and confidence. Police vehicles equipped with CCTV cameras and public announcement systems have been positioned strategically. Officers have been supplied with body cameras to monitor suspicious activities.

Officials have identified vulnerable areas and strengthened security measures. Executive magistrates will supervise sensitive locations, with religious sites receiving protection and barricading. Areas have been systematically divided into zones and sub-zones.
The govt has established provisions for devotee welfare, considering potential heatwave and nor’westers. The measures included emergency lighting, medical services with ambulances and road maintenance teams.
