Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has decided to deploy more female RPF and GRP staff on trains, particularly in ladies’ compartments of MMTS trains. It has also been decided to display emergency numbers in all ladies’ coaches, including those on MMTS trains, and in conspicuous places.
There are plans to install CCTV cameras in all compartments, with real-time monitoring by RPF/GRP personnel. Display screens inside trains will convey safety messages and important security information for passengers.
Officials also mentioned that MMTS trains will be equipped with accessible panic buttons linked to a control room and the train guard in every ladies’ coach. The existing security helpline, 139, will feature a mobile app with a one-tap SOS option.
Meanwhile, Meri Saheli teams have been instructed to travel on MMTS trains and carry out a thorough analysis of security vulnerabilities affecting female passengers, with particular attention to high-risk routes and MMTS sections.
