Schoolteacher: Schoolteacher suspended for molesting girl | Bhubaneswar News
Kendrapada: A high school teacher was suspended on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl on the school premises in Kendrapada district.
The incident came to light after the district education authorities received information and directed the block education officer (BEO) to investigate the matter.
BEO Chittaranjan Sahoo said, “We investigated the matter and came to know that the teacher molested the girl last week.But the parents of the girl chose not to file an FIR against the teacher. The girl is reading in Class VI.”
The girl’s mother said her daughter was reluctant to go to school. “When I asked her the reason, she said the teacher took her to a room and molested her. I could not believe that a teacher could do such an act,” she said.
A police officer clarified that the girl or her parents should register an FIR against the accused teacher and the police cannot take suo motu action without a formal complaint.tnn
