Aurangabad: President of Nabinagar Vyapar Mandal, Sanjay Singh, was shot dead on Saturday night. Police said the reason behind the killing is not known.
According to sources, the incident occurred while Singh was returning from Aurangabad district headquarters. Unidentified criminals stopped his car on Nabinagar-Aurangabad road near Sonora electricity grid and shot him dead, killing him on the spot.
His wife, Meena Devi, was elected president of Ankorha Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) two days back.
Superintendent of police, Ambrish Rahul, said a special police team has been formed to investigate the murder and the Nabinagar police station in-charge has reached the spot. He said no one arrest has been made so far.
“The reason for the murder is not known yet. The police is in touch Singh’s family members and collecting information about the possible reasons for the killing,” he said. No FIR was lodged till the time of filing of the report.
