Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Parents Association has claimed that several private schools in the city have allegedly denied admission to students belonging to economically weaker sections under the Right to Education Act.
The Act mandates 25% reservation for students from economically weaker sections in private unaided schools. The state govt is supposed to reimburse schools for the expenses incurred on educating these children.
After evaluating the applications, govt allocated seats in various schools, but some schools have refused admission to the children, the parents alleged. Association president Basudev Bhatt the govt needs to take the matter seriously and ensure that the RTE Act is implemented in letter and spirit. TNN
