Rs 99.43 Crore Funded for Building 100 Flood Relief Shelters in Bihar | – Times of India



Patna: A sum of more than Rs 99.43 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) was allocated to the disaster management department for constructing 100 flood relief shelters in 10 flood-hit districts. The construction of 77 such shelters has already been completed, while the work on the remaining shelters is in progress, the secretary to the CM, Anupam Kumar, said during the 23rd meeting of the Board of Trustees of the CMRF here at the ‘Sankalp’ hall of the CM’s residence on Saturday.
The CM asked the officials to complete the construction of the remaining 23 shelters at the earliest.
“Various aspects related to the CMRF were discussed in detail at the meeting, held under the chairmanship of CM Nitish Kumar. The CM issued necessary instructions to the officials concerned during the meeting,” a communique issued from the chief minister’s office (CMO) on Saturday said.
During the meeting, secretary to the CM Anupam Kumar presented the compliance report of the 22nd meeting’s proceedings, confirming that actions on all points were taken. A report on the received, distributed, and remaining balance of the fund was presented by him, the communique said.
Anupam also informed the meeting that necessary approval was granted for expenditure of Rs 9.32 crore as ex-gratia assistance to the dependents of 139 deceased and 61 seriously injured in different accidents from Bihar that occurred outside the state, and to the families of 156 deceased persons due to various disasters within the state.
The CM emphasised the importance of the relief fund in assisting people during disasters and in various other activities, highlighting its significant role.
The meeting was also attended by disaster management minister Santosh Kumar Suman, principal secretary to the chief minister Deepak Kumar, chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena, director general of police Alok Raj, principal secretary to the chief minister S Siddharth, principal secretary to the governor R L Chongthu, principal secretary of finance Anand Kishore, secretary to the chief minister Kumar Ravi, and health secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh.
