RPF recovers ₹50L from passenger at Patna Junction | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A case of money laundering was lodged by the income tax department following recovery of Rs 50 lakh in cash from a passenger travelling by Ranchi-Patna Vande Bharat Express (22350) on Saturday night.
The accused, arrested by the RPF, was identified as Bajrang Kumar Thakur (26), son of Prasad Thakur, a resident of village Jayanagar under Patratu police station area in in Jharkhand.
Patna RPF inspector Sushil Kumar said the accused Bajrang, in his statement to the RPF, revealed that the seized money belonged to one Pawan Thakur, a leading coal trader from Ranchi. The matter has been referred to the income tax department for further investigation, he said.
Bajrang who got down from Ranchi-Patna Vande Bharat Express on Saturday, was found sitting in a suspicious manner near foot over bridge on platform number 1 at Patna Junction. The RPF men spotted him carrying a big size trolley suitcase.
