RPF chief reviews security ahead of Independence Day | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: With Independence Day round the corner, director general (DG) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Manoj Yadav, will assess the security arrangements within the East Central Railway (ECR) jurisdiction. Yadav’s review includes a meeting with ECR general manager Chatrasal Singh and other senior RPF officials at Hajipur. Danapur RPF senior commandant Prakash Kumar Panda said Yadav’s two-day visit would begin on Monday.
“This is Yadav’s first visit to Bihar since he assumed the role of DG, RPF at the Railway Board in July last year.He will also meet with senior RPF officials from each ECR division to address any staff grievances and prioritise their resolution,” Panda added.
On Tuesday, Yadav will inaugurate a newly built G+3 office-cum-RPF barrack at Patna Junction’s western end. He will also hand over four new motorcycles to Patna RPF for enhanced security surveillance and rapid response to emergencies. “The DG will also inspect RPF functioning and security arrangements in Rajgir, Bakhtiyarpur and Harnaut in Nalanda district,” Panda added.
Meanwhile, RPF has intensified security measures at major crowded stations in the Danapur division ahead of Independence Day. At Patna Junction, passengers’ luggage is being scanned. Similarly, random luggage checks are being conducted at Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Junction and Danapur. “RPF sniffers are on duty at Patna Junction and passengers are being warned not to touch any abandoned items on platforms or tracks through megaphones, especially during the ongoing Shrawani Mela rush,” Panda said.
