Rowdy-sheeter, gang arrested for kidnapping driver

Bengaluru: Suspecting that his former driver had betrayed him, a rowdy-sheeter allegedly kidnapped and assaulted him.
Talaghattapura police recently nabbed the rowdy-sheeter Manjesh Kumar and three of his associates, Dileep, Nuthan, and Maruthi, all residents of south Bengaluru. They kidnapped Kiran S, 35, a resident of Talaghattapura and a minibus driver, around 8.30am on April 9 and released him the next day around 10.30am.
Kiran earlier worked as a driver for Manjesh. After Manjesh was jailed in a murder case, he purchased a bus and drove himself. The gang trapped him by making a woman call on the pretext of hiring his bus for a trip to Koti Lingeshwara. She called him on April 8 and asked him to pick them up the next morning.
Kiran went to pick up the passengers. Manjesh’s associates got into the vehicle and insisted he drive to Shivagange. When he reached the Nelamangala toll, Manjesh got into the bus, while Kiran was busy paying the toll. One of Manjesh’s associates took the steering. They drove to various places and assaulted him with lethal weapons in the moving bus. They stripped him and threatened him at gunpoint and later, demanded a ransom. They made him pay Rs 24,000 for buying liquor and food.
The next day, they released him from captivity after warning him not to report to the police. However, Kiran reported the incident on April 16, and the gang was arrested. One more accused is at large, and efforts are on to nab him.
