Keonjhar: Three unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly robbed two liquor shop employees of more than Rs 2 lakh after hurling a bomb near a mango orchard in Keonjhar district on Wednesday night.The incident occurred when employees Dinesh Prasad and Ashwini Kar were returning home to Sarei around 10 pm from their govt-approved foreign liquor shop in Kathakaranjia village.The duo had stored the day’s earnings in their vehicle’s storage compartment.“Three unknown persons on a motorcycle chased and intercepted them near the mango orchard. They hurled a bomb, looted the money, and fled towards Karanjia road,” said shopowner Bidhu Bhusan Pati.Champua police, along with a forensic team, reached the spot after being informed. A case has been registered based on a written complaint.Police suspect the involvement of criminals from neighbouring Jharkhand, given the area’s proximity to the inter-state border and its connectivity to Mayurbhanj district. “The accused likely fled across the border to Jharkhand after the robbery. We are investigating the case and expect to make arrests soon,” said a police officer.TNN
