Road blocked to protest death of fuel station staff in Vaishali road mishap | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: An irate mob on Monday blocked the road at Gandhi Chowk, under the Town police station area in Vaishali, by placing the body of an employee of a fuel station who died in a road accident.
Police said Ranjan Thakur, 27, was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Nakhas Chowk at Hajipur in the Town police station area late on Sunday night. The incident occurred while he was returning home after his duty at a fuel station at Dak Bungalow Chowk in Hajipur.
Following the protest, the vehicular traffic was disrupted for about two hours. The police managed to calm down the mob after a two-hour effort.
Police said Ranjan, son of Sonelal Thakur, was a resident of Nawanagar village in Bidupur police station area. He was married two years ago and has a one-year-old daughter. He was staying in a rented house in Machhua Toli in the Hajipur Town police station area.
“After completing his work at the fuel station, Ranjan was returning to his home at Machhua Toli late in the night when a vehicle hit him near Nakhas Chowk, causing him severe injuries. The police admitted him to the Sadar Hospital. Seeing his serious condition, the doctors referred him to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where he passed away during the treatment,” said Hajipur SDPO, Om Prakash.
The SDPO said after the death, the family members along with others blocked the road near Gandhi Chowk in Hajipur, causing a traffic blockade. Upon receiving the information, the Town police calmed the angry crowd and sent the body for an autopsy to the Sadar Hospital, Hajipur.
