Patna: The state cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal of the environment, forest and climate change department to revive the toy train service at Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park here.
In this regard, the cabinet sanctioned Rs 9.88 crore, payable to the Danapur division of Indian railways, required to revive and make operational the toy train that has been lying dysfunctional for the last nine years.
Additional chief secretary of the cabinet secretariat department, S Siddharth, said that the toy train, which ran on a 3.5-km-long track around Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park, was introduced in 1977, but went out of operation in 2015. After revival, the new train will have four coaches, while the railways will also lay new sleepers on the track.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to transfer 1.6-acre unused land of the housing board near Patliputra Sports Complex in Kankarbag locality to the sports department. For this, the housing board will be paid Rs 48 crore.
The cabinet also cleared the proposal of the education department to transfer its 0.31 acre of land in Sadikpuryogi mauja under Sadar block of Patna to the urban development and housing department for use by the Patna Metro Rail Corporation. The amount paid to the education department for the land transfer is Rs 1.56 crore.
These apart, the cabinet cleared a proposal to increase the paid-up capital of state film development corporation from Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore.
