Retired School Teacher Shot Dead in Purnia | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: A 65-year-old retired teacher was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Janki Nagar police station area of Purnia district in the wee hours of Thursday. The victim, identified as Ram Narayan Yadav, was sleeping in the veranda of his house when the miscreants shot him in the head. The exact reason behind the murder is still unclear, police said.
According to the complaint filed by the deceased’s family members, Yadav had retired from his teaching profession a few years ago and was leading a peaceful life.On Wednesday night, he had dinner and went to sleep in the verandah of his house around 11pm. However, after some hours, the family heard a loud noise, which they initially ignored, thinking it was a truck tyre burst. But when they woke up around 6am on Thursday, they found Yadav lying in a pool of blood with two bullet wounds.
Banmankhi SDPO Hulas Kumar said preliminary investigations revealed that Yadav was killed over a personal enmity. “Nothing was looted from the old man as his cellphone and some cash were recovered near his body,” he added.
