BU inks pact with RMRC for research

Berhampur: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Berhampur University and ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar, on Saturday for collaborative research and studies on different inter-disciplinary subjects and other academic activities.
The purpose of the MoU is to explore the scope of interdisciplinary joint research and education related to public health, vector-borne diseases, medical entomology and drug discovery.
Similarly, the university will also facilitate the process of enrolling scientists, scholars, research associates of ICMR-RMRC to research programmes in public health, zoology, physics, chemistry and biotechnology at BU. Research work would be carried out with joint supervision of both institutes, sources said.
The MoU was signed between Geetanjali Dash, vice-chancellor of Berhampur University, and Sanghamitra Pati, director of ICMR-RMRC. The MoU will be valid for 10 years. The duration might be extended with the consent of both the institutions under mutual agreement, the sources said.
“Not only students and researchers of medical sciences of Berhampur University will be benefited by the MoU, but also those of some other science streams,” said the VC. “Collaborative research on different topics would also help policymakers in the future, particularly in medical science,” she added.
With this, the university has signed MoUs with 37 institutes and organisations for collaborative research and student exchange programmes.
