MUMBAI : The Central Railway has come up with a unique trespass control measure. At four suburban railway stations, where there are many incidents of passengers crossing tracks and putting their lives at risk, the CR has created a “red box” — which is a big box-like structure at the end of the platform.
“So, instead of the slope at the platform end to walk down to the tracks and cross, you will find the big box in front of you as a deterrent.Commuters will be unable to get down to the tracks,” an official said. Many commuters found the red box as a deterrent and did not cross tracks on Wednesday, a CR official added. The stations are Wadala, Kurla, Thane and Govandi.
