Re-postmortem performed on elephant poacher’s body – The Times of India

DHARMAPURI: As directed by the Madras high court, a re-postmortem was performed on the body of elephant poacher G Senthil in Dharmapuri Government Medical College and Hospital (DGMCH) on Thursday.
Senthil was found dead in a forest under suspicious circumstances. His family had submitted a petition to the Madras high court. While the case was still going on in the court, a postmortem was performed on Senthil’s body on April 6 without securing the consent of his wife. During a later session, the court ordered a re-postmortem by a team of three doctors appointed by it, as requested by the petitioner.
In accordance with the court’s order, a re-postmortem was performed on Thursday by a team comprising Dr Gokula Ramanan, head of the forensic science department in Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, and assistant professors Dr Thunder Chief from Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital and Dr Karthikeyan from the Chengalpet Government Medical College and Hospital.
Salem range CB-CID DSP S Vinoth, who is the investigating officer in the case, and Senthil’s wife, Chitra, were present during the re-postmortem. After the re-postmortem, the body was placed in a freezer box to keep it in the examination room till April 15, as directed by the high court.
