Koraput: A special Pocso court of Jeypore on Wednesday sentenced a 63-year-old man to life imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life for raping a six-year-old girl two years back. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict, Balmiki Martha. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an additional six months of jail term, special public prosecutor Gayatri Devi said.
Martha forcibly took the girl, who was playing outside her home, to his residence and raped her on Feb 6, 2022.The crime came to light when the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother. TNN
