Rape case: Court appoints lawyer for ex-Hassan MP Prajwal | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A special court for elected representatives Tuesday appointed an advocate for former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna in a rape case, with the trial scheduled to begin on May 2.
The CID’s special investigation team has filed a chargesheet, accusing Prajwal of repeatedly raping a 40-year-old maid at the family’s Gannikada farmhouse and residence in Bengaluru’s Basavanagudi.
As the court framed charges after rejecting Prajwal’s petition to discharge, his counsel resigned on April 23. On the same day, Special Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat gave Prajwal until April 28 to appoint a new lawyer. When he failed to do so, the court granted an extension of one day.
On Tuesday, the court appointed advocate Jayashree RS, empanelled with Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, to represent Prajwal during the trial.
