Rana Daggubati, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi among 25 Telugu actors and influencers booked for promoting online betting apps | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: A case has been registered against several prominent Tollywood actors, including Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, Praneetha, Nidhi Agarwal, and Ananya Nagella, along with 18 others promoting online betting apps and encouraging people to invest their hard-earned money in them.
Some of the accused people include television hosts and social media influencers.
The case was filed following a complaint from one P M Phanindra Sarma, a resident of Miyapur.
The police registered the case under various sections of the Telangana Gaming Act, BNS, and the IT Act.
The development comes just days after a similar case was filed against 11 social media influencers, including a police constable, at the Panjagutta police station.
The police have ramped up their efforts to tackle the rising issue, spurred by multiple complaints from citizens about actors, celebrities, and influencers promoting these illegal betting platforms.
In response to the growing concerns, TGRTC MD and Senior IPS Officer VC Sajjanar has launched an online awareness campaign titled #SayNoToBettingApps, aiming to educate the public about the dangers of online betting.
