Raised Rs 10k cr in bonds for farm loan waiver: Goud

Hyderabad: Refuting the allegations made by BRS working president K T Rama Rao on the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli land issue, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud Friday said the Rs 10,000 crore raised by the state govt through Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) in the form of bonds was utilised for farm loan waiver scheme and pay bonus to farmers who cultivated fine variety paddy.
“Is KTR pained because farmers benefited from the money. Doesn’t he care for the welfare of farmers,” Goud sought to know.
The PCC chief reiterated that the 400 acres at Kancha Gachibowli belonged to the state govt and was given to TGIIC at Rs 75 crore per acre.
“KTR is seeking a CBI inquiry into the land issue. In fact, a CBI investigation should be conducted into auctioning of thousands of acres of govt land in and around Hyderabad during 10 years by the KCR family-run previous BRS govt.”
On KTR’s allegation of Rs 175 crore being paid to a brokerage firm, Goud said it was a govt transaction which was in the public domain. The agency was paid the money through a proper tender process.
“Even the Rs 5,200 crore figure being quoted by KTR is actually his 30% share that should have accrued to him on this land. It was KTR who colluded with Billi Rao (of IMG Bharata) for his share and allowed the company to go to high court to claim the land,” the Congress leader alleged.
“KTR would have got this money if the Congress had not come to power,” he said.
The TPCC president threw a challenge to KTR and BRS to come for a debate on auctioning and selling of govt land during the BRS regime and during the 15-month period of the current Congress govt.
“People of Telangana need to know the truth about University of Hyderabad (UoH) land,” he said.
“Indira Gandhi gave alternate land for UoH. When NDA led by Atal Behari Vajpayee was ruling the country, it was the TDP govt led by N Chandrababu Naidu in undivided Andhra Pradesh that gave 400 acres to IMG Bharata,” Goud said, adding it was the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy govt that stopped IMG Bharata from getting the land.
Then, A Revanth Reddy went to the Supreme Court and ensured that the govt got back the land. Neither KTR nor the BRS govt did anything to take back the land from IMG.
Talking about the value of the land, Goud said, “Who knows, TGIIC may have got Rs 100 crore to Rs 150 crore per acre if it had auctioned the land to companies and investors. The BRS govt boasted of Kokapet land going for nearly Rs 100 crore per acre. The Kancha Gachibowli land has in its vicinity ISB, Infosys, Microsoft, Google, Wipro, Deloitte, Accenture, and the US consulate.”
“BRS and BJP are conniving and making baseless allegations on the Kancha Gachibowli land issue only to divert attention of the people from Congress govt’s achievements of conducting a caste survey and extending 42% reservation to BCs,” Goud said.
