Mumbai: Officials from the Bandra police station have arrested a 42-year-old lawyer, Faizan Khan, from his residence in Pandri, Raipur, regarding a threat call made to actor Shah Rukh Khan last Tuesday. The caller had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh whilst making death threats.
The phone call was received at the Bandra police station’s landline, where the caller informed constable Santosh Ghodke: “Shah Rukh Khan, the one at Mannat, Bandstand… if he doesn’t give me 50 lakh rupees, I will kill him.” Upon being asked to identify himself, the caller stated, “doesn’t matter… if you need a name, write it as Hindustani” before ending the call.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary verified the arrest and indicated that investigations are continuing. According to a Bandra police official, the solicitor had previously received a notice requiring him to present himself at the police station for questioning. His failure to comply led to his arrest. The official added, “He maintains his innocence regarding the call, suggesting his stolen mobile was used by the thief to make the threat call. The team will transport the suspect to Mumbai.”
