Rainfall: IMD issues heavy rain warning for 25 districts | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in both coastal and interior pockets of the state on Sunday and Monday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday, the IMD said.
The possible system may further develop into a low-pressure area.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in six districts — Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam and Gajapati.Similarly, heavy rainfall may take place over 19 districts — Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Kendrapada.
In the wake of the heavy rainfall warning, the office of the special relief commissioner ( SRC ) issued an alert to collectors, said an official.
The state received light to moderate rain during the last 24 hours.
Belaguntha in Ganjam district recorded the highest 83 mm of rainfall, followed by Nabarangpur with 37.2 mm.
