Railways carries out anti-encroachment drive at Simri Bakhtiyarpur station | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a move to develop Simri Bakhtiyarpur station, falling under the jurisdiction of the Samastipur division of the East Central Railway (ECR), under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the railways carried out a massive anti-encroachment drive in the Samastipur division on Monday.
The drive targetting illegal constructions on the railway land, resulted in the removal of at least 145 illegal structures and reclamation of 8,500 square meter area at Simri Bakhtiyarpur located close to Saharsa station, said Samastipur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinay Srivastava.
“The freeing of land from encroachment would facilitate the railway station development work. The drive was meticulously planned and executed by the railways authorities with cooperation from the district administration. It is part of a broader initiative to improve infrastructure and passenger facilities under the ambitious ABSS plan to modernise and upgrade railway stations across the country,” the DRM said.
“The freed land at Simri Bakhtiyarpur will now be used for station expansion, including improving further modern amenities, circulating areas, platforms and enhanced passenger amenities for passengers in the days to come,” he said, adding the railways would continue anti-encroachment drive in the division to free its more encroached land.
According to Samastipur public relations officer (PRO) R K Singh, the railways has decided to continue monitoring and preventing further encroachments as part of ongoing efforts to enhance required infrastructure and overall efficiency. This drive will help transform the Simri Bakhtiyarpur station and help modernisation initiatives, he said.
