Railway Ministry: Railway Ministry Sanctions 8km-long Flyover at Titilagarh Junction | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The railway ministry has sanctioned an 8.11 km-long flyover to streamline train operations and ease traffic congestion at Titilagarh junction station under Sambalpur division of East Coast Railway (ECoR).
The Rs 183.89-crore project aims to address the increasing train traffic and congestion on the Raipur-Vizianagaram, Titilagarh-Sambalpur and Sambalpur-Raipur railway sections.
Currently, Titilagarh Junction station faces a significant constraint affecting train movement. Up trains from the Raipur end while entering Titilagarh yard cross the path of Down traffic to Sambalpur at the north end of the yard.
The number of such cross movements has been assessed to be 38 per day as per the line capacity statement in 2023-24, said the ECoR statement. The proposed flyover will provide dedicated infrastructure for trains from and to Vizianagaram, Raipur, and Sambalpur directions at Titilagarh without crossing other lines.
This will enable simultaneous movement of trains in all three directions, eliminating the need for cross-traffic halts and reducing delays.
The new rail flyover is expected to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers and improve the operational efficiency of the railways in the region, said the ECoR official statement.
The Rs 191.87-crore flyover will facilitate simultaneous movement of trains in the Bhubaneswar-Berhampur and Khurda Road-Puri rail sections.
