Railway Flyover Project: ₹288cr approved for Sambalpur flyover project | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The ministry of railways has approved Rs 288.6 crore for the development of a railway flyover that will link Sambalpur station to Sambalpur city station, covering a distance of 8.1 km. This project is designed to optimize train operations and mitigate congestion at these important intersections.
The flyover will enable concurrent train movements from all directions at Sambalpur, streamlining train traffic and ensuring smooth operations towards Titilagarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda.“By eliminating cross-traffic delays and operational inefficiencies, the project will boost the average speed and efficiency of trains in the region,” said an official statement by the East Coast Railway (ECoR).
The construction forms a part of the Indian Railways’ Energy Corridor initiative. The newly constructed flyover will offer exclusive infrastructure for trains traveling to and from Titilagarh, Jharsuguda and Angul directions, eliminating the requirement for crossing other lines.
Train traffic will no longer be held up at Sambalpur/Sambalpur city stations and nearby stations, reducing waiting times for trains approaching this junction.
