Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said while Rahul Gandhi was taking forward Gandhi’s ideology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was doing the work of Mahatma’s killer Nathuram Godse in the country.
“Modi’s guarantee is to try and break the country. But Rahul Gandhi’s guarantee is for a nationwide caste census, farm loan waiver, and welfare of women and backward classes. The Telangana govt has already fulfilled these promises by conducting a caste survey and waiving Rs 21,000 crore in crop loans for 25.50 lakh farmers within a year,” Revanth said while addressing the AICC session on its concluding day in Ahmedabad.
Dubbing the BJP as more dangerous than the British, the CM said no harm came to Gandhi despite several movements against the foreign rulers, but within months of India gaining Independence, the intolerant ‘Godse family’ had him killed.
“All those who believe in Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, should come together under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to stop the ‘Godse family’. Like we drove away the British from India, let us together defeat the BJP,” Revanth exhorted the party while promising to not allow the BJP to grow in Telangana.
“I am saying this from the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I am appealing to citizens from every corner of the country to fight against Modi and Godse’s ideology, and save the country,” he said.
Contrasting the work of Modi and Rahul Gandhi, the CM said the Modi govt brought three farm laws and did not hold talks with farmers during their 14-month protest. The PM allowed Manipur to burn and tried to obliterate the right to life of indigenous people of the country, Revanth said. But Rahul Gandhi embarked on Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to unite the country, promising caste census, farm loan waiver and job creation, he said.
“The Modi govt did not allow Rahul Gandhi to even speak in the Lok Sabha, fearing he would raise issue of caste census,” Revanth said.
Hitting out at Modi over his promise to give two crore jobs to youth every year, the CM said eleven years had passed and by now PM should have provided more than 20 crore jobs.
“Modi and Amit Shah have got jobs, but crores of youth in the country are still jobless despite the PM’s promise,” the CM said.
“Let us all stand by Rahul Gandhi in his continuous fight against the Modi govt. All of us should defeat Godse’s descendants and Modi. I am going back from here with hope to further empower farmers, women and youth as discussed in the CWC meeting,” he said.
