Questions were too easy, say aspirants after retest | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Amid allegations about the low standard of questions in the Dec 13 Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE PT), candidates who appeared for the retest on Saturday claimed the questions were of even poorer quality. The retest was conducted across 22 centres in Patna.
“The questions were very easy and a few of them — about 5-7 — were exactly repeated from the previous set while several others followed similar patterns,” said Lalu Kumar, a candidate whose centre was at a school in Mandiri. “We never expected the question paper to be of such a low level. These questions are more like those asked in Group-D clerk exams. We were expecting analytical questions, but the quality is disappointing and would benefit mediocre candidates.”
Another candidate, Deepak Sharma, also expressed dissatisfaction. “The ‘one-liner’ type questions were not suited for civil service aspirants,” he said. “The pattern was not changed even during the retest and the quality further deteriorated. This will raise the cut-off very high and give an advantage to candidates preparing for clerk-level exams,” he added. Both Lalu and Deepak said they attempted 120 out of 150 questions and were confident of getting around 100 correct answers.
Nitin, whose centre was at Bankipore Girls High School, said science was his weak area but still found the section surprisingly easy. “The questions were easy and even the science part, which is usually challenging for me, was comfortable. There were no surprises at all,” he added.
Syed Nasir Hussain, who also appeared for the retest at the same school, echoed similar sentiments. “The questions were straightforward and I am confident of getting 100-110 correct answers,” he said.
The BPSC conducted the retest following allegations of irregularities at the Bapu Exam Centre during the Dec 13 exam, which led to the cancellation of the test for candidates from that centre. However, many other candidates from the 70th CCE PT have been protesting since Dec 18, demanding the cancellation of the entire exam and a fresh test for all aspirants.
