QR code launched for ticket bookings

Patna: Enthused by the success of the Sonepur division, the Samastipur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) has launched QR-code devices to facilitate online unified payments interface (UPI), enabling passengers to book their reserved and unreserved tickets without any hindrance. Passengers can now make secure and instant payments at most of the reserved and unreserved ticket booking counters in the division using the QR-code by scanning through cellphones, said Samastipur divisional railway manager (DRM), Vinay Srivastava.
According to Srivastava, the division has received 334 QR-code devices for installation at both reserved and unreserved ticket booking counters.The Samastipur division has a total of 149 unreserved ticket booking counters, out of which 50 of them have been equipped with the new QR-code devices. Out of the 55 reserved ticket booking counters, the new QR-code system has been made functional at 29 counters which aims at reducing time in booking tickets, he said.
In addition to booking of reserved and unreserved tickets, the passengers can use the QR-code devices to book their platform, tatkal and monthly seasonal tickets.
