PWC pupils celebrate Xmas with ragpickers | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a novel initiative, the students and teachers of Patna Women’s College (PWC) celebrated Christmas with the ragpickers of the city on Tuesday. The programme was organised under the banner of the Ragpickers Education and Development Scheme (REDS).
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by PWC history department head Sister Celine Crasta. This was followed by a Christmas carol sung for these children from the deprived sections of society. The college students also presented some interesting dance and skit pieces.
Children under the REDS also presented two items of dance, which were enjoyed by all. The cultural activities were followed by three exciting sessions of games. The surprise arrival of Santa Claus with loads of attractive gifts brought a smile to the faces of all the children.
REDS’ director Brother Victor and Sister Jincy also addressed the students and encouraged the ragpickers to study regularly with devotion and sincerity and join the national mainstream.
Philosophy department head Ameeta Jaiswal and zoology department head Shobha Srivastava also attended the function. Sixth-semester student Tashneem Nigar proposed a vote of thanks.
