Purnia man kills mother, injures brother over property dispute | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: In a tragic incident related to a property dispute in Purnia district on Sunday morning, a man hit his 65-year-old mother with a hammer, which led to her death. When the accused’s younger brother and his wife attempted to intervene, they too were attacked and severely injured.
The wife of the accused was also involved in the attack.
The deceased has been identified as Lalita Devi, wife of Parmanand Bhagat.The incident occurred at their home in Itahri village, under the jurisdiction of the Dhamdaha police station in Purnia district. The accused son and his wife have been identified as Krishna Jaiswal and Puja Devi and they are on the run, police said.
According to police, the Lalita’s husband said in his police complaint that he had constructed a two-storey house in the village for his two sons, Krishna and Alok Bhagat, and divided it equally. He, however, had retained two and a half acres of land in the village for himself. His elder son, Krishna and his wife frequently argued with him over division of two and a half acres land.
About a month back, there was a quarrel in the family in the house over the land.
Trainee DSP and Dhamdaha SHO, Avinash Kashyap, said, “Alok was sleeping inside his room in the morning when he heard his mother’s scream. When he rushed out of his room to see his mother he was attacked by Krishna. When Alok’s wife came to rescue her husband, she was also caught by Krishna’s wife and hit on the head with the hammer.
Lalita, Alok and his wife were rushed to sub-divisional hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared Lalita dead.
