Puri Resident Duped of Rs 4 Lakh in Cyber Fraud Scheme | Bhubaneswar News

Puri: Cybercriminals looted Rs 4 lakh from the bank account of a Puri resident on the pretext of offering an agricultural loan.
Victim Sukanta Swain said, “I received a message on my WhatsApp number. The WhatsApp display picture and name claimed to be from the PM-Kisan helpdesk. They approached me, offering an agricultural loan. To get the loan, they sent a link to my number. Unaware of the fraud, I clicked on the link. Immediately after that, Rs 4 lakh was debited from my bank account,” Sukanta said.
According to Sukanta, the scammers withdrew the amount from his account in four separate transactions. Realising the fraud, Sukanta filed a complaint at the Puri cyber police station.TNN
