Puri Rath Yatra: Buses and Trains Packed for Puri Rath Yatra | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Trains and buses were packed as devotees from the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, as well as other parts of the state and outside, headed to Puri for Rath Yatra on Sunday.
Railways and state govt had arranged special train and bus services for devotees travelling to and from Puri. Tourist buses from other states also arrived in Puri on Sunday.Private vehicles and motorcycles also crowded the roads leading to Puri.
Debendra Sahu, general secretary of All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association, said, “We provided 150 buses each from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. We operated 700 more buses from other parts of the state. Most of the buses were running full.”
As the pulling of chariots will resume in Puri on Monday, a govt holiday, Sahu said many people will travel to Puri on that day. “Buses travelled to Puri through different routes, including from Ganjam via Janhikuda-Satapada, from Konark, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,” he added.
In addition to regular services, the railways operated 315 special trains for Rath Yatra. It deployed additional staff to manage passenger rush at Khurda Road Junction and Puri stations. A senior railway officer said, “Almost all Puri-bound trains are running full.”
