Bhubaneswar: Revenue minister Suresh Pujari visited Mayurbhanj district on Sunday to assess the damage caused by hailstorm and rain. Pujari, along with housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, visited some villages that had been affected and said compensation would be provided as soon as possible.
“I received a preliminary report about damages to houses and crops due to untimely rain and hailstorm,” Pujari said. He assured the people that the compensation amount would be sent to their Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. Others will get their compensation in cash, and the process will be completed within two days, he added.
The revenue minister said he spoke to Mayurbhanj district collector and other officials about the damage. “The govt is working on a war-footing to provide compensation. People can repair their homes. If anybody’s house cannot be repaired and it needs replacement, we will try to help them get a new home under the housing scheme,” he added.
