PU teachers’ wait for salary to end | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The six-month-long wait of the teachers and non-teaching staff of state universities in Bihar may finally end soon as the govt is likely to sanction the necessary funds to pay their salaries.
According to sources, the development came soon after the chief minister’s principal secretary S Siddharth took over the position of the additional chief secretary of the education department in place of K K Pathak, who is on leave.Sources added that some of the recent decisions of the department ‘indicate that they do not want to have any unwarranted confrontation with Raj Bhawan on academic issues’.
When the department convened a university-wise meeting with the respective vice-chancellors (VCs) and other concerned officers in the chamber of the additional chief secretary between June 10 and 12 to review the university budgets, it sought the consent of the chancellor for the VCs’ participation in the review meetings.
The issue of payment of salaries and pensions to the working and retired staff of the universities is also likely to come up for hearing before the Patna high court on June 25.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the department has convened yet another meeting of the VCs and other officials of all the universities at 11am on June 12 to discuss the universities’ budget for 2024-25 among other things.
