PU, PPU colleges reopen after Christmas holidays with low attendance – Times of India



Patna: Patna University (PU) and Patliputra University (PPU) students seemed to be in an extended holiday mode in the January chill, as most colleges wore deserted look after they reopened on Thursday following the Christmas holidays.
According to Prof D N Sinha, head of English department at B N College under PU, classes saw moderate attendance on the opening day. It was a similar scenario at Patna College, Magadh Mahila College and Science College, where the handful of the students present and teachers were seen exchanging pleasantries on the new year.
Principal of TPS College, Prof Upendra Kumar, said though attendance of the students was marginally low as compared to other days, all teachers were present, and took their classes as per routine.
Ganga Devi Mahila College principal Prof Rimjhim Sheel said the students turned up in moderate numbers. “Teaching and non-teaching staff were present in full strength. Academic activities were held as per daily routine,” she said, adding the girls were asked to take full precautions to safeguard themselves against the chilly weather.
City-based A N College principal Pravin Kumar, however, said the premises hummed with academic activities on its opening day. Students turned up in good numbers in both postgraduate and undergraduate departments, he said.
Patna City-based RPM College principal Prof Punam said that despite bad weather condition, most of the girls were present in the classes, which were held as per daily routine.
In several other colleges like B S College, Danapur; College of Commerce, Arts and Science in Patna; Arvind Mahila College in Patna; Khagaul Mahila College and JNL College, Khagaul, witnessed moderate attendance, sources said.
According to PPU examination controller Prof Manoj Kumar, the staff were present in full strength.
