Parida discusses ways to boost state tourism during London visit

Bhubaneswar: Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday met the High Commissioner of India in the United Kingdom during her London visit and deliberated on ways to enhance tourism in Odisha.
Following the meeting, Parida posted on X: “Had a productive meeting with the High Commissioner of India in the United Kingdom and discussed ways to boost tourism and strengthen ties in tourism sector. Also explored potential areas of collaboration and brainstormed initiatives to attract more international tourists to Odisha”.
She emphasised that Odisha, with its 480-km-long coastline, possesses remarkable potential to draw international tourists. She highlighted Odisha’s renowned festivals such as the Rath Yatra, Konark Dance Festival and Mukteswar Dance Festival during the discussion, which offer visitors a distinctive and enriching experience.
Parida, who oversees tourism, women and child development and Mission Shakti portfolios, aligned her discussion towards women-led entrepreneurial programmes with UK business houses interested in contributing to Odisha’s tourism sector growth. She emphasised the state govt’s commitment to sustainable tourism and women-led development. She indicated that her United Kingdom meetings would bolster women entrepreneurs of the state in Odisha’s homestay sector.
Subsequently, Parida inaugurated an Odia restaurant at Bexleyheath in London. She later posted on X about it, noting the restaurant’s specialisation in Indian street food.
