Prohibitory orders clamped in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: Bhadrak district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in Godipokhari village and its adjoining areas under Dhusuri police limits following a violent altercation between two communities.
The order that came into effect from 2 pm on Sept 19 and will remain in force until 10 pm on Sept 21, strictly prohibits any unlawful assemblies or gatherings.“The OIC, Dhusuri police station, is hereby directed to promulgate the order on the spot through mike announcement with immediate effect in the areas and take necessary and eminent steps to disperse the mob, who will create disturbance in the said proceeding areas and to take action as per law against the disturbing persons,” read a notification issued by the office of sub-collector, Bhadrak.
The incident occurred during the observance of a religious celebration by one community in Gudupokhari. The community members erected flags at Arun Bazar as part of the celebration. However, on Thursday, the flags were discovered to have been torn, leading members of the community to suspect the involvement of another community, resulting in a heated verbal exchange and physical assault between the two groups.
The clash left four persons injured, with one of them sustaining critical injuries, who was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Police have apprehended three persons allegedly involved in the altercation.TNN
