Bengaluru: A special police team, led by deputy superintendent of police (DySP), has begun an investigation into a reported murder conspiracy against Congress MLC KN Rajendra, who is also the son of minister KN Rajanna.
An FIR was registered at Kyatasandra police station in Tumakuru, naming five individuals, including a history-sheeter, Soma. The other accused are: Bharat, Amit, Gunda, and Yatish. A senior police officer said, “We will soon question the accused. Based on their statements, the investigation will proceed.”
Rajendra met with state police chief Alok Mohan Thursday and submitted a written complaint. Following Mohan’s advice, Rajendra filed a formal complaint with Tumakuru superintendent of police (SP).
In his complaint, Rajendra has stated that the accused were to get paid Rs 70 lakh to eliminate him with them already receiving an advance of Rs 5 lakh. He further claimed that the gang planned the attack for Nov 16, 2024, the day before his daughter’s birthday celebrations at his Tumakuru residence. Rajendra also mentioned receiving an audio clip in Jan that confirmed the plot.
The MLC explained that the suspects had visited his residence under the guise of setting up a shamiyana. While the incident was initially suspected to be an attempt at honey trapping, Rajendra later clarified that it was a conspiracy to kill him.
