Ambernath: The Thane crime branch has launched an investigation following information about an alleged plan of a local Shiv Sena functionary to kill the party’s Ambernath MLA, Balaji Kinikar.
The police have detained some people and have issued a notice to the local leader. The information received indicated that the functionary had hired shooters to kill Kinikar at a family function on Thursday in Latur. Kinikar told TOI, “Yes, one of my supporters told me about the plan. I have requested the police commissioner to investigate it.”
The Shiv Sena functionary against whom the allegations have been made said, “Yes police have issued me a notice but because of a wedding in my family, I won’t be able to present myself before the police now. I will submit a reply to the police.” The Shiv Sena leadership is aware of the ongoing political dispute between the duo, sources said.
