Primary Classes: Primary School in Ahmedpur Village Conducting Classes Outdoors Due to Dilapidated Building | Bhubaneswar News



Kendrapada: Students of a primary school in Ahmedpur village in Kendrapada district are studying under a tree for the last two months due to the dilapidated building.
Villagers alleged that despite repeated pleas to the district education officer and administration to carry out repairs, no action has been taken yet. Residents recently arranged a polythene cover to shield the students from rain.
Headmistress Aparna Mallick said, “The dilapidated building is not fit for use and it may collapse any time.A large slab had caved in last month but nobody was injured as the students were having their midday meals. The walls have developed wide cracks and water seeps into every part of the building. As a result, 96 students from classes I to V are studying under trees.”
Sarapanch of Ahmedpur gram panchayat, Diptimayee Sahoo, said, “The panchayat has decided to repair the school building at a cost of Rs 6 lakh.”
