Pre-monsoon airport runway maintenance completed | Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Mumbai airport on Thursday said that it has successfully concluded the scheduled pre-monsoon runway maintenance work in the six hours from 11 am to 5 pm when the airport was closed to flight operations.The work completed included maintenance of pavement and electrical substation; rubber removal on the runway, surface marking and major drain cleaning work, saidMumbai International Airport Ltd(MIAL). “A dedicated team thoroughly inspected over 3,000 runway lights for signs of wear and tear. Drain pits and chambers along the runway strip, as well as critical lighting, IT, and navigational aid cables, were inspected for integrity,” it added. The annual runway maintenance is undertaken to optimise the airport’s operational efficiency. A notice to airmen was issued to stakeholders, allowing flight schedules to be planned and minimising inconvenience to passengers.tnn
