Pradhan pays tribute to Ambedkar, inaugurates agricultural projects in Sambalpur | Bhubaneswar News

Sambalpur: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid homage to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary and launched several agricultural initiatives during his visit to Sambalpur on Monday.
At Modipara Chowk, Pradhan paid homage to the Bharat Ratna recipient, highlighting how Ambedkar’s principles continue to shape India’s democratic framework. “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Babasaheb’s vision of equality, liberty, and fraternity guides our nation forward,” Pradhan said, highlighting the govt’s efforts to develop historical sites associated with Ambedkar.
The minister inaugurated the “Pushpakrushi Palihaus” in Sanatanpali, constructed under the CSIR-Pushpakrushi Mission, and laid the foundation stone for a farmer’s hub. The hub will feature a godown and cover shed in the new sub-market area, aimed at boosting local agricultural infrastructure.
During the Pushpakrushi Mela, Pradhan distributed fodder and engaged with local farmers, emphasising floriculture’s potential to enhance rural income. “Agriculture remains our economic backbone and cultural unifier. Sanatanpali’s farmers are setting an example through flower cultivation, which will drive local employment and self-reliance,” he said.
The minister’s itinerary included visits to several temples — Dakshina Kali and Baba Siddheswar in Khubela, and Dandkali in Hirakud — coinciding with Maha Bishuba Sankranti and Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. He participated in the traditional Meru Yatra, describing it as “a festival embodying devotion to Shiva and Shakti”. Pradhan concluded his visit by extending New Year greetings to the Odia community, expressing hopes for prosperity in the coming year.
