PPU accelerates college accreditation process in Patna and Nalanda districts | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: With the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) transitioning to a binary “accredited or not accredited” system from July, Patliputra University (PPU) has devised a comprehensive plan to expedite the accreditation process for colleges in Patna and Nalanda districts.
A K Nag, director of PPU’s internal quality assurance cell (IQAC), said 14 of the university’s 29 constituent colleges are preparing for their first cycle of accreditation.“Three colleges — M D College, Naubatpur, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Patna City, and Kisan College, Sohsarai — have already submitted their self-study reports (SSRs) to the NAAC portal.
The remaining eight are in the process of submitting their institutional information for quality assessment (IIQA), which is a prerequisite for the SSR,” he said. A dedicated cell has been established at the university headquarters to monitor and assist each college in completing the NAAC formalities.
Seven colleges under the university have already been accredited by NAAC, with their validity extending from February 2025 to June 2029. Prominent among them are A N College, Patna (grade A+), A N S College, Barh (grade C), J D Women’s College (grade B), T P S College (grade B), College of Commerce, Arts and Science (grade A), Ganga Devi Mahila College, Kankarbagh (grade B) and Vardhman Mahavir Government College, Pawapuri (grade B).
Seema Kumari, PPU’s NAAC incharge, said a meeting was recently held with NAAC coordinators under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor R K Singh to discuss the progress and challenges faced by colleges undergoing their first and second cycles of accreditation.
“The university is providing financial assistance to colleges to upgrade their laboratories and libraries to meet NAAC requirements,” she said, adding the university has also urged college principals to enhance the overall academic environment on their campuses to perform better during the NAAC assessment.
